Another Win for the State and the Patrick Administration
Per the Boston Globe article:
Massachusetts is among 10 recipients to win money in the second round of the $4.35 billion competition. Massachusetts was the top scorer in this round.

This is according to a CNBC poll in July 2010. Of particular note is that Massachusetts, in spite of the recession and decreasing budgets, has risen to # 1 in education.
Do you think that just perhaps the Patrick administration and the legislature should get some credit for that? Keep listening. I'm sure you'll hear that in the press or begrudgingly from our Republican friends at some point. Well ... may not ...

The Wall Street Refom Act is now Law!
After years of Republican led deregulation and anti-consumerism, and despite a Senate fillibuster by virtually all Senate Republicans, the American economy and American citizens now have some protection (no legislation is ever perfect) from speculators.

On May 25th Governor Patrick came to town to officially designate Hopkinton as a Green Community. A lot of people worked very hard on this but no one harder than John Mosher, a member of the new BoS who was backed by the HDTC.
It's only fair to note that there was some important Republican backing for this initiative, most notably RJ Dourney who spoke in favor of it at Town Meeting. That said, our local Republicans were by and large digging their feet in against this and spoke out in opposition at TM. We can't expect much help from the R's in keeping our town healthy, clean, and green. We need your help to keep the environmental momentum and to reverse the recent success of local Republicans. It's in our interest and in the interest of our children and grand children who will inherit the planet from us.
